Impact will get its west coast premiere at the 53rd Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. Director Marin Alsop will conduct the piece at the festival’s two “Grand Finale” concerts at Mission San Juan Bautista.  Also on the program are works by Ana Lara, James MacMillan, and Christopher Rouse.

Fort Worth Opera will host one of its “Opera Overture” events as a preview of some of the music by composers selected for its annual Frontiers showcase. Included on the program and performed by Fort Worth Opera Studio members will be arias and excerpts from Julius, And Jill Came Tumbling After, and a work-in-progress titled Somewhere in Italy. The program will also feature works by composers Jorge Sosa and Zachary Redler.
